These two activities are the perfect combination for any surfer, providing flexibility, strength, and a deep appreciation for the beauty around us. With yoga, you’ll be in harmony with your surroundings and ready to tackle the waves like never before.
Safety is our top priority. That’s why our instructors are certified by the International Surfing Association and trained in lifesaving techniques by the Surfing Life Saving Association. For experienced surfers, we offer a SURFARI to Europe’s best reef breaks in Lanzarote and neighboring islands.
But we’re not just for adults. Kids over 6 who can swim are welcome to join our surf lessons. We’ve found that mixed age groups are most effective, allowing children and adults to learn from each other in a stress-free environment. We’ll start with the basics, teaching your child to get comfortable in the water before moving on to gliding and finally, surfing. Food
At Red Star Surf, we want you to have the freedom to enjoy your meals just the way you like them. That’s why we don’t offer meal plans. Instead, you can either cook your own meals in our fully equipped kitchen or dine out at one of the many local restaurants and bars in Famara.
Our surf houses are equipped with everything you need to cook up a storm, and you can even share the kitchen with other guests. And don’t worry about finding ingredients – the local supermarkets offer a great selection of international and local products.
For dinner, we recommend venturing out to one of the many restaurants and bars in the area. You’ll find everything from cheap and quick Canarian fast food to fine cuisine. Our friendly team is always happy to provide recommendations. So whether you’re in the mood for something exotic or familiar, you’re sure to find something delicious in Famara.
Accommodation
Red Star Surf is nestled in the serene coastal village of Caleta de Famara, which sits within a natural reserve. With its tranquil surroundings, it’s the perfect destination for water sports enthusiasts and yoga lovers alike. Our comfortable surf houses are conveniently located just a stone’s throw away from both the beach and town center. Each house features 3-4 rooms that can accommodate 1-4 people, including single rooms, mixed shared rooms, twin rooms with individual beds, double rooms with double beds, and a private room for 2-4 people. All of our rooms come with shared bathrooms, and one double room even boasts an ensuite bathroom.
At Red Star Surf, we believe in fostering a sense of community among our guests. That’s why we provide a variety of shared spaces for everyone to enjoy, including fully equipped kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms, and terraces. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the surf houses, so you can stay connected during your stay. Our kitchens are perfect for those who like to cook, but we also recommend checking out the numerous local restaurants that serve up fresh, delicious cuisine to suit every palate. And when you’re not out exploring, our comfortable living rooms with sofas and TV are great places to relax and mingle with other guests.
We welcome guests all year round, and our surfing and yoga lessons run from Monday to Sunday. You can join our courses any day of the week, or choose flexible dates that suit your schedule. We offer accommodation in shared single/double rooms in our surf houses, as well as private apartments. If you’re looking to make new friends and connect with people from all over the world, we highly recommend staying in one of our surf houses.
Prices for our private double rooms start at 729 euros for one person, or 1085 euros for two people.
Location
Red Star Surf offers the perfect getaway from the crowded tourist hotspots and takes you to the serene fishing village of Famara Beach, situated on the tranquil north coast of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, Spain. Here, you will be surrounded by breathtaking waves, stunning mountains, and unspoiled landscapes. The northern region of Lanzarote is a protected nature reserve under UNESCO, providing a pristine environment to relax in.
Due to its volcanic formation and advantageous location, Lanzarote and its neighboring islands are blessed with waves from all directions, providing ideal surfing conditions in any weather. Life in Famara revolves around surfing and kite surfing, with surfers carrying their boards everywhere they go, walking barefoot, in wetsuits, or cruising on longboards. The famous Playa Famara beach is just a stone’s throw away from any part of the village and is a paradise for surfers. With a range of surf spots, from beginner beach breaks to reef breaks, point breaks, and tow-in big wave spots, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
How to get there?
To arrive at Lanzarote, you can take a flight to Lanzarote Airport (ACE) from major European cities like Madrid, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich, Milan, Bologna, London, Barcelona, etc. A variety of airlines offer different flight options, and prices may vary depending on the season, ticket refund conditions, flight change possibilities, personal details, and your preference for the class of travel. The average round-trip ticket from central European cities to Lanzarote ranges from 50 to 150 EUR.
Red Star Surf does not provide airport pick-up, but you can reach Famara from the airport by bus, taxi, or rental car. Taking a bus to Caleta de Famara is an affordable option, but it may take a considerable amount of time due to low bus frequency. The bus fare is around 5 EUR, and tickets are sold on the bus. Make sure to mention the bus stop you are traveling to, as the ticket price depends on it. The maximum banknote accepted on the bus is 10 EUR, so carrying some coins would be helpful.
From Monday to Friday, take bus line #22 from the airport to Arrecife’s main bus station Intercambiador and then change to bus line #20 to Caleta de Famara. On weekends, take bus line #23 from the airport to Intercambiador and then switch to line #3 to Costa Teguise. Get off at Playa Bastian and then switch to bus line #31 to reach Caleta de Famara. It is advisable to check the official website of Lanzarote public transportation to plan your bus trip efficiently.
The most convenient option is to take a taxi from the airport to the surf school, which takes 25-30 minutes and costs approximately 35-40 EUR. Taxis are available at the airport 24/7. Alternatively, you can request a pickup for 100 EUR, where Red Star Surf will meet you at the airport.
