With a waist-high wood-burning stove/oven, you can maintain a cozy temperature throughout your stay. Fresh drinking water is available from a tap located within 100 meters, and each yurt comes with its own rolling water carrier. The water undergoes UV treatment and is known for its exceptional taste. Shower facilities and clean, gender-specific toilets are conveniently located within 300 meters of the yurts. Ask yourself, what do you want to consciously plant, grow, and blossom, and at the same time, what do you want to uproot and let go.”

Location

Rydal Lake, nestled in the heart of the English Lake District, offers a serene and breathtaking retreat for both locals and tourists. Situated between the charming towns of Grasmere and Ambleside, and in close proximity to the renowned Windermere, Rydal Lake is enveloped by the stunning natural beauty that characterizes the Lake District. Majestic hills, picturesque valleys, meandering rivers, and lush forests adorn the landscape, creating a truly captivating environment.

The Location of Rydal, The Lake District, Cumbria:

After an extensive search, Rydal was discovered as the perfect location for the yurts and cabins. Positioned as the quintessential heart of the Lake District, Rydal boasts the delightful Rydal Hall and its exquisite gardens on one side, while ancient woodlands and expansive fells grace the other. What sets this site apart as an idyllic destination for a relaxing getaway is the convenience of being able to explore the surroundings on foot. With a plethora of activities and attractions within walking distance, you can revel in the splendor of the area without needing a car for an extended period.

The Lake District:

Beauty, adventure, heritage, culture, and cuisine converge in the Lake District, making it a truly remarkable holiday destination. From towering mountains to sandy beaches, ancient heritage sites to contemporary attractions, the region offers a diverse array of experiences. The distinctive character of the Lake District is formed by its rugged hills, interlaced by a network of lakes, rivers, and charming tarns. These geographical wonders were shaped millions of years ago through tectonic movements and subsequently carved by glaciers during the Ice Age.

Although the Romans maintained a fragile presence in the region through a series of forts, it was in the 18th century that the Lake District’s unique allure began to be recognized. Once considered a desolate and barren corner of the country, it gradually became a sought-after destination for pleasure seekers seeking solace from the bustling towns and cities of the Industrial Revolution.

Today, the Lake District serves as a modern hub for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a wide range of adventures such as climbing, canoeing, sailing, biking, off-road driving, and paragliding. Alternatively, visitors can embrace relaxation through leisurely walks, boat tours, gallery visits, dining at exquisite restaurants, enjoying cozy pubs, indulging in retail therapy, exploring museums, taking in cinematic experiences, and even visiting England’s first Single Malt Distillery, soon to open its doors.

The region’s landscape bears witness to a rich history of various industries that have left their mark. Whether it’s the remnants of quarries, coppiced bobbins, water-powered mills, mines, shipbuilding, or prehistoric axe making, each has contributed to shaping the Lake District’s character. Notably, the region played a pivotal role in supplying the British Empire with Cumbrian Gun Powder, renowned as the finest in the land. Today, the influence of hydroelectricity, forestry, and farming continues to mold the Lake District, resulting in a landscape that is a testament to centuries of human interaction with the land. The region’s museums and attractions provide a fascinating insight into this ongoing relationship.
