During your retreat, you’ll have the opportunity to delve into various aspects of yoga, including asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), deep relaxation, and meditation. Our morning classes aim to energize and revitalize, while the afternoon sessions offer a diverse range of yoga styles each day.
Led by our experienced instructor Jo, the classes provide a supportive and personalized environment, with small groups allowing ample individual attention. Jo draws inspiration from different yoga styles, including Iyengar yoga’s emphasis on correct alignment, Vinyasa’s flowing movements synchronized with breath, Viniyoga’s individualistic approach, and the gentle Hatha practice and meditation focus of Integral yoga and Sivananda. Restorative and Yin yoga have also gained significance in Jo’s teachings, providing a soothing and nurturing experience. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced practitioner, Jo’s classes incorporate elements from these various styles, catering to all levels.
Meditation is an integral part of our retreats, offering a path to expanded awareness, tranquility, and focused attention. Through systematic teachings, you’ll explore different meditation techniques throughout the week, including body and breathing awareness, inner observation, sound meditation, and healing chakra meditations. Tranquil Times warmly welcomes both vegetarians and non-vegetarians to their esteemed yoga retreat. With a strong emphasis on wholesome, nourishing meals, they take pride in using fresh, natural ingredients, free from artificial preservatives. Understanding the significance of food during your holiday, they craft a weekly menu tailored to guests’ specific needs.
While predominantly serving vegetarian cuisine, they may incorporate fish once or twice a week and occasionally include chicken dishes. Their culinary offerings feature a delightful fusion of international flavors, harnessing the healing properties of subtle herbs and spices.
The day begins with a scrumptious breakfast spread, including homemade granola, fresh fruit salad, Bulgarian bio yogurt, freshly baked bread or toast, local village honey, and homemade preserves. A light, salad-based lunch is served in the early afternoon, followed by a delectable 2-course dinner in the evening, typically comprising a starter and a main course. Additionally, twice a week, they offer indulgent dark chocolate desserts to elevate serotonin levels.
Your package includes bottled water, coffee, and a variety of teas, while they encourage you to gather fresh herbs from their garden to create your own herbal blends. For evening meals, they provide wine or beer, operating an honesty bar to cover the associated costs.
Recognizing that food is essential fuel for the body, they have fine-tuned portion control over the years to ensure healthy weight management. They have their own organic vegetable and herb gardens, boasting over 30 fruit and nut trees, as well as free-range eggs sourced from their hens.

With over a decade of experience, Jo has established a reputation for organizing thriving international retreats and conducting classes. Her dedication to personal growth and mastery in the healing arts is evident through her continuous pursuit of advanced training and knowledge. Jo is a highly esteemed teacher, holding the prestigious Yoga Alliance certification as an ERYT200 (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) and serving as a provider of continued education in the field. In addition to her expertise in yoga, Jo is a Reiki master teacher and a skilled sound healer, channeling the power of sound for healing purposes. Her extensive qualifications also encompass Nutrition for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Curative Hypnotherapy. Embraced by a picturesque valley, the retreat finds itself enveloped by vineyards, lush forests, and breathtaking countryside, all of which form part of the Kamchia Nature Reserve. Despite the serene seclusion, this idyllic location remains conveniently close to Varna, the vibrant sea capital of Bulgaria, reachable within a mere 25-minute drive.

How to get there?
If you plan to arrive by airplane, we recommend flying into Varna Airport (VAR). Tranquil Times Holistic Retreat can assist in organizing transfers to and from the airport. The cost for a single transfer is approximately 35 GBP if you are traveling alone, and it may be lower if you are sharing the transfer with other participants of the retreat. Alternatively, you can choose to arrive at Burgas Airport (BOJ). The cost for a single transfer from Burgas Airport is approximately 65 GBP each way. Renting a car is another option for reaching Tranquil Times Holistic Retreat from Burgas Airport.
It is worth noting that Sofia Airport (SOF) is another possible arrival point, with numerous affordable flights available. From Sofia, you can take a short 50-minute internal flight to Varna.
Varna International Airport is the closest airport to the retreat, located just 35 minutes away. Bourgas International Airport is the next closest, situated approximately 1.5 to 2 hours away. Both airports offer direct flights from various regional airports throughout Europe, including Scandinavia and the Middle East.
For those coming from Sofia, Bulgaria Air operates daily internal flights to Varna. Additionally, there is a well-connected network of trains and coaches within the country, providing transportation options along the Black Sea coast to Istanbul. Many long-haul guests often choose to fly via Istanbul using Turkish Airlines.
Upon your arrival, Tranquil Times will gladly arrange transfers with their dedicated driver from the airport to the retreat. Alternatively, they can provide you with information on public transport or detailed directions if you are traveling by road.
